He’s at ease with Leader. My perfect getaway finds me in the mountains, on skis, enjoying the scenery and nature. I’m crazy about skiing. Listening to music on my iPod while skiing is, for me, the perfect getaway from day-to-day life. The perfect guest is hard to find. However, I appreciate a guest who, in turn, appreciates the service and the quality we offer and at the same time treats the employees in a respectful manner. I also like guests who are critical and fact driven, giving you constructive feedback on how you can improve your quality and service even further. The site that inspires me most is the sunset in Mykonos, which I love, or being on top of a ski mountain, looking across the Alps. When it comes to clothes, my favourite brands are Hugo Boss, Cavalli, Prada and Emenegildo Zegna. All my suits are from Hugo Boss which fit me perfectly. At the same time, I’m a shoe addict, having so many pairs of shoes. I love shopping. I’m definitely not too conservative. It’s important to be trendy in our business as well. The music I listen to is chill out music, like Buddha Bar, Cafe del mar, Hotel Costes, etcetera. My biggest hobby is to mix music myself for different play lists. I’m a gadget man and love anything Apple does. I like to mix music in a way that I can use for the different moods I’m in. I like guests who are critical and fact driven, giving you constructive feedback on how you can improve your quality and service even further The last films I watched would be the kind I like most, that is, documentaries such as Planet Earth and any movies on wild life. They bring me back to reality, showing us how nature is, what we’ve done with it, and what we still can do to preserve it. On my bedside table are magazines, which I love. At the moment, I only find time to read books when I’m on vacation. My perfect meal would involve Asian food, especially Thai and Indian. I love their curries and hot and spicy soups. When it comes to European food, I could live on Italian cuisine but at the same time love home cooking the German way. My secret pleasures are my wife and our daughter. My role model from a business standpoint, is Jack Welch, for whom I have great respect. I get inspired by Steve Jobs, who I think is fantastic. The memory I would rather forget was the earthquake in Egypt when I was the General Manager and Regional Vice President for Intercontinental. We had to evacuate the hotel.
